This was the first Bengali restaurant in Delhi. It was pretty decent. But at this moment this is the worst example of Bengali cusine. People should not form their opinions based  on this outlet. The decor & smell is like a road side joint typically like the small eateries inside various Kolkata markets. Service is below par. And the food is the weakest link. Just average like the daily joints of Gariahat Market  but there you dont mind because of the prices and the freshness. Here the prices on la carte would be almost same level as Oh Calcutta not in taste. A plate of Rohu fish costs 170/- ( I guess 200 gms  fish at Rs30/-) So for a plate of plain fish & rice you need to pay approx 225/-.  Plate of Hilsa is at 350/- here as for 350/- you would get a kilo.. If its 4-5 star joint you do not mind the prices but not in a place where you enter and is greeted with a bad smell. And the watery dal is is the worst. Its been on the decline ever since i first visited in 2003. My last experince with service a month back in 2008Dec was bad as was the food. Lots of work to do to keep up with the famous name.
